Volunteer Policy & Protocols

In order to volunteer with Captivenia programs individuals must complete required screening, training and orientation well in advance of event start date.  

For the 2017 summer camp, deadline for completion is June 25th.  Thank you in advance for your assistance in ensuring a safe environment for all campers.

Volunteer Screening

Overnight Volunteers

1. Complete Volunteer Application
2. Interview with Camp Directorship: Formation Team  with Valerie Doran. Moms & Back-Up Team with Nadia Rhodes.
3. Read Catholic Kids Net, Inc. Policies & Procedure Manual
4. Complete Volunteer Service Agreement
5. Obtain Level 2 Criminal Record Check for Vulnerable Sector* (local detachment)
6. Obtain Intervention Record* or equivalent (child service record check)
7. Register online and submit payment
8. Scan and email all documents to Volunteer Coordinator

*NB:  Original CRC-VS & IRC’s must be submitted at your earliest convenience.  CRC-VS & IRC (or equivalent) will be kept in volunteer file for three years.

Day Volunteers

1. Complete Volunteer Application

Volunteer Training

Once screening requirements are complete, individuals will be registered in Armatus Camp Care online training program, available 24/7 for your convenience.  Camp Care offers the gold standard for abuse prevention designed specifically to keep camps safe. The complete line of training and services are designed to educate camp volunteers—making camper safety everyones priority.

Overnight Volunteers

Year 1:  Three core courses: Meet Sam, It Happened to Me, and Keeping Your Camp Safe
Year 2:  Advanced Abuse Risk Prevention Refresher

The cycle repeats from there.
If a volunteer returns for third year, s/he will be automatically reset to take the three core courses again.
