Lumenorians
Mentioned below are some of the many virtuous souls from throughout the realm of Lumenorus who have pledged their allegiance to the King. They are descendants of the first humans who entered into Lumenorus back in the year 542 of the 1st Age. Since then, and based on the properties of the Springs of Lumenorus, the average lifespan for these mortals who chose to dwell in this realm increased to 150 to 200 years on average. They are the valiant ones who continue to sacrifice much for both Arcātheos and Captivenia.
Immortal Duxarium
The Duxarium are a race unto their own, existing in both power and nature, somewhere between the mortals and the divine spirits. Blessed with immortality, they have a higher understanding of the spiritual realm than do their mortal counterparts. But unlike the spirits, they have bodies and as such have an inherent vulnerability. What powers they possess are not magic, though mortals could mistake their abilities for such. Instead, their enhanced gifts are simply the expression of their natural abilities. The noblest office of the Duxarium is that of intercessors and mentors for mankind.
The Valgrey
Here the accounts of those who have fallen will be given mention. Though they were born of the Duxarium race, they have rejected the grace of the King and have forgotten the very nature they were created to encapsulate. Bereft of the King's grace, they constantly seek to inflict harm on those who continue to serve the Legion of Arcātheos.

AMBASSADOR GAWAN
Race: Human
Origins: Lumenorus, born in the year 45 of the 2nd Age
Current Age: 112 years old in the year 157 of the 2nd Age
Skill Mastery: Diplomacy
Chief Virtue: Wisdom
Commision & Title: Ambassador of Arcātheos
Gawan was born in the city of Shanoth, south of the Great River, soon after the dawn of the second age. His parents were successful merchants who strengthened trade between Meridianas and Captivenia. Growing up, his family travelled regularly into Arcātheos, passing through the main gate into the protected realm. When he was sixteen, he was allowed to venture off to sit in attendance at the Royal Court of Arcātheos.
While in session, a rather complicated dispute between two neighboring settlements was being debated. The proceedings were interrupted when Gawan was signaled out of the crowd and asked to give his impression on the matter. After its conclusion, he was affirmed for his wisdom, and his friends were invited by Lord Valerian into the King’s temple. From that day forward, and to his surprise, a member of the Royal Guard was assigned to protect him as he progressed through his studies, back in Meridianas Arbor. At the age of 23, he returned to Arcātheos, and has served as Ambassador ever since.

GENERAL PRAEFORTIS
Race: Human
Origins: Lumenorus, born in the year 46 of the 2nd Age
Current Age: 111 years old in the year 157 of the 2nd Age
Skill Mastery: Swordsmanship, Artillery, Strategy of War
Chief Virtue: Prudence
Commision: Legion Commander of Arcātheos
Descending from a distinguished line of military leaders, his grandfather died protecting Aurelius, as one of the first Praedorian Rangers in the Great War. After the subsequent death of his father, at the hands of the enemy, he made a silent vow to help rid Lumenorus of all evil.
His early career was an aggressive campaign of ruthless battles, driving the enemy day by day further into the East. The courage and valor he displayed during this time led to several promotions. However, it was his passion to take on evil by himself that became his downfall.
He was tricked into serving the very enemy he had sworn to hate, and viciously attacked a settlement he believed to be hostile. At this his darkest moment, when he realized several servants of the King lay mortally wounded through the imprudent will of his sword, the King’s mercy came to him through the healing hands of Lord Valerian. By a singular grace of the King, and after several weeks of a physician’s care, each of the wounded were snatched from the grips of death. Thus Praefortis’ conscience was spared from an even deeper guilt than the many he already bore. For a year he made penance by rebuilding the small village he had attacked in haste. He was a changed man, fully aware of his need to follow the will of the King in all matters, rather than his own. Fully reinstated into the King’s forces, he was in turn elevated to the rank of General. Under his leadership, reside the Royal Artillery, Tower Guards, and the Praedorian Rangers.

Lady Veronica
Race: Human
Origins: Lumenorus, born in the year 7 of the 2nd Age
Current Age: 154 years old in the year 161 of the 2nd Age
Skill Mastery: Diplomacy
Guiding Virtues: Trust and Authenticity
Commissions & Titles: Former Chancellor of Captivenia, Lady and Adviser of the Court of Captivenia, Confidant of the Princess, The Wandered of Lumenorus
Veronica was born shortly after the great war of the First Age of Lumenorus. In the years that followed the war, approximately 1400 Lumenorians were permitted to settle in Captivenia under the leadership of Commander Justin of Solandil, her father. For his leadership, Commander Justin was named as the first Keeper of Captivenia by ArchLord Valerian. Veronica loved her father and was blessed with a family wholly dedicated to the service of the poor, and love of the King. They devoted their time and talent to serving those less fortunate than themselves and as a result, the Realm of Captivenia prospered. But their happiness was not to last.
On the eve of her 18th birthday, Veronica and her family received news that her father had gone missing. His men were found dead after a patrol, but he disappeared. Veronica was heart broken and in her grief, she fled her home and her family. Her trust in the King was shaken that day.
She spent the next several years traveling throughout all of Captivenia and Lumenorus. And while she struggled to trust the King and His will, she never lost her heart of gold. Everywhere she went, she took care of those less fortunate. To this day, there stand orphanages and shelters that she herself started long ago. She travelled so far and helped so many that people affectionately called her, The Wanderer.
Eventually, she was joined on her travels by an older gentleman named Adelphos. He became like a brother to her and supported her through many trials. Once, Adelphos was even injured while trying to protect Veronica from guards that were trying to unjustly arrest her. The measure of his love, which he attributed to the grace of the King, left an impression upon Veronica. Seeing her friend’s courageous faith gave her the strength to begin opening her heart to the King once more. She spent the next few years in prayer listening to the voice of the King as she wandered over verdant fields of green in Meridianas, and in Caelorian forests under autumn canopies of gold. All the while, the King wandered with her.
In the year of her 25th birthday she received news that her Father had been found. With great rejoicing she returned home and spent the remainder of his days by his side. When he passed peacefully in the year 37, Lady Veronica and her sister assumed the role of Keepers of Captivenia. They served the realm faithfully until Leisaura came of age and was crowned Princess. Veronica then served as ambassador for the Kingdom. But in the year 150 of the 2nd age, in recognition of her loyalty, she was elevated to Chancellor. Captivenia prospered under her leadership and in many ways, the realm owes much of its spirit to her example of kindness and joy. Eventually, the King called her to serve Him and Him alone in other corners of the realm. And so she relinquished her titles and returned to a simple life of love and wandering.

Ambassador Celestria
Race: Human
Origins: Lumenorus, born in the year 93 of the 2nd Age
Current Age: 68 years old in the year 161 of the 2nd Age
Skill Mastery: Archery, Knowledge of Cultures
Guiding Virtues: Service & Loyalty
Commission & Title: Ambassador of Captivenia
Celestria was born in a small village south of Faelan, near the Forest of Magnar. Though she had a good heart, as a child she was known to speak without thinking and her forceful nature gained her a reputation of being both difficult and stubborn. One night, a pack of Magnari Wolves attacked her village. She was the sole survivor. Found among the ruins of her broken home by a group of traders, she was taken to live with her aunt and uncle just outside of Meridianas Arbor.
Though the transition was difficult, it was here that Celestria first fell in love with the King of Lumenorus. Through the example of her uncle and his family, Celestria grew to know the power, goodness, and mercy of the King. It is to Him that she submitted her strong will, and by His grace, she became a loyal servant. So attractive was her devotion that there were none in the village who did not desire her friendship, for she was both beautiful and kind.
Being of keen intelligence, her uncle took it upon himself to educate Celestria. He was a learned man and had served for many years in the Great Library of the Blessed in Meridianas Arbor. One day, a group of Lauravita passed through on a mission to serve the people in a distant village. Overcome with a desire to serve others, Celestria begged to go along with them. The Lauravita permitted her to accompany them and she eventually joined their order. For more than 30 years, she traveled the realm serving people of all races, languages, and cultures. As a result, she became fluent in almost all of the known dialects of Lumenorus and could feel at home in every one of its cultures.
After a beautiful time of service among the Lauravita, the King called her to serve in yet another capacity. Given her intensive education, her knowledge of Lumenorus, and her obvious capacity for leadership, it was discerned that she could better serve the King among the esteemed Messengers of Captivenia. Time passed and she was eventually appointed to serve as Lead Messenger by Leisaura, the first Princess of Captivenia. She held the position for many years. In the 155th year of second age, she was selected by Illyria, the second Princess of Captivenia, to serve as Ambassador for the Kingdom.

Guiding Virtues: Ingenuity and Humility

Just off the coast of Solandil, the Royal Navy has its primary base on the Island of Constantius. It is on these shores that Lady Rayessen was raised, as both of her parents served in the navy. As a result, from a young age, she was surrounded by innovation which fascinated her even though she never felt called to follow in her parents’ footsteps.
Growing up, her family would always spend a month on the mainland. This was Rayessen’s favorite time of the year for her heart was most content among the trees. As a young girl, she and her friends would venture out alone for hours. One day, they went too far and fell prey to a nest of Minions. Helpless, Rayessen watched as her friend was dragged towards the nest’s entrance, which led deep underground. Just before she disappeared, a Messenger arrived and was able to rescue the poor girl, though she was gravely wounded. Not wanting anyone else to suffer as her friend did, Rayessen decided that she would be a Messenger and within 5 years, left her family home and enrolled in their training program.
Early in her training, Rayessen realized that, in terms of strength and agility, she could not compare with the others in her class. However, what she felt she lacked in athletic prowess, she made up for in terms of her intelligence and quick thinking. She was a quick study of the ways of the forest and became an expert in survival. Her creativity and invention also gave her a competitive edge above her peers. In the year 158 of the 2nd Age, she was invited to come to Captivenia to be an instructor at the Festival of Maidens.
Immortal Duxarium

ARCHLORD VALERIAN
Race: Duxarium
Origins: Elethia, born 8242 years before the 1st Age
Current Age: 10,140 in the year 161 of the 2nd Age
Skill Mastery: Strategic Warfare, Healing Arts, Mastery of Elements, Understanding of Realms and Knowledge of Souls
Chief Virtues: Justice and Mercy
Commissions & Titles: First Prince of the Duxarium, ArchLord, First Duxarium to Return to Elethia.
This humble servant was already greatly respected for founding an order of knights known as the King's Legion back in Elethia. After his strategic victory over the Valgrey he was one of seven chosen to be personally formed by the King when the Duxarium first arrived on the western shores of Lumenorus.
ArchLord Valerian was the first to discover the secret entrance to the Abyss of Silentius within the mountains of Solandil. Legend has it that he descended into what was considered to be an inescapable prison, on a mission asked of him by the King. There he wandered the caverns of the great pit some forty years, a perilous journey culminating in ever increasing forms of personal sacrifice for him. He attests this was done to continue to strip himself of his pride, so that the King's presence would be more manifested through him. On the day he was permitted to find the key to his escape, he sustained what should have been a fatal wound to his chest.
He was crowned by the other ArchLords as the First Prince of the Duxarium, a title he initially tried to refuse. After the King instructed him to accept this honor, he gave nearly all of the realm entrusted to him away to five new royal bloodlines. After that he set them free from his direct rule, so that they would give all glory to the great King alone. He would remain as Guardian of the Hill of the King, which he would rename as Arcātheos. It was there that he forged the gate, a marvelous wonder capable of transporting legions of warriors into service when called upon. Through this gate, and in collaboration with the King, he also helped to create the ‘realm within a realm’ which would eventually become known as Captivenia.
ArchLord Valerian would serve 1,898 years bringing the good news of the King to many souls during his time in Lumenorus. Then in the year 159 of the 2nd Age he was afforded a grace never before offered to the Duxarium. He was called by the King to be the first to be allowed to return to the realm of Elethia. Before setting off across the Sea of Realms, he would name Lord Castius as Guardian of Arcātheos, Protector of Captivenia, and Keeper of the Sword of Silentius. In addition to this, and as an even greater sign that he may not be returning to Lumenorus, he abdicated the throne and named his closest friend Illyria as the First Princess of the Duxarium.
To this day a monument remains protected on the Hill of the King, in remembrance of ArchLord Valerian’s loyalty and many sacrifices. It is here that all are encouraged to consider that Elethia in all its glory, is but a taste of the true paradise being offered for all eternity to those loyal to the King.

PRINCESS ILLYRIA
Race: Duxarium
Born: Elethia, 7,106 years before the 1st Age
Current Age: 9,004 in the year 161 of the 2nd Age
Gifts: Light of the King, Visions, and Knowledge of Souls
Guiding Virtues: Wisdom and Total Abandonment to the King
Commissions & Titles: Princess of the Duxarium of Lumenorus, Princess of Captivenia, Founder of the Order of Light, and the Lady of Elethia
Illyria was a rather unremarkable child. Being quite timid, she spent many long hours wandering the woods alone or reading in the sails of her father’s ships. She was a restless soul and longed for more, but did not know where to find it.
Her father Constantius was a master ship builder, responsible for the craft that Lord Gabron used to circumvent the Isle. However, Constantius was unexpectedly taken from her while sailing his caravel near the cliffs of Ungdar. At first, his death was believed to be an accident but it was later revealed that he was the first of many casualties in an unspeakable war.
Illyria was taken prisoner by the enemy months before the death of her father. Unbeknownst to her, the King had granted her a powerful gift, one that the enemy had sought to exploit. She was finally rescued by Valerian and his knights, but the ordeal plunged her into a time of great darkness. It was there, in the midst of her suffering, that she first encountered the magnanimous love of the King. From then on, she was radically changed and sought only to devote her life to Him alone. Seeking to protect Illyria, and having become like a brother to her, Valerian instructed his knights to build her a guarded sanctuary at the base of a mountain. There, she remained in silence with the King, discerning His will.
Eventually, war descended upon the Isle and consumed it. Many were lost in the tides of battle and during that time, Illyria was graced with powerful visions, several of which preserved the lives of many innocent Duxarium. Her counsel was requested by many high ranking knights and served them well during the war. She played a hidden, but powerful role in Lord Valerian’s final victory over the enemy and received many graces from the King, including a depth of faith that enabled her to physically manifest His light in the world in a way that had never been seen before. At this time, and under the King’s guidance, she founded the Order of Light and was joined by many female Duxarium seeking to wholy dedicate themselves to the King.
Almost 30 years later, Illyria was visited by the King in a dream. There, he showed her a world, where many beloved souls were relentlessly assailed by dark forces. She recounted her vision and other details of the future to Valerian who immediately directed his knights to begin crafting a fleet of sailing ships. The design was given to them by Illyria herself, the product of her father’s greatest works, which were entrusted to her before his death. The Duxarium affectionately referred to her as the Lady of Elethia, for she brought such a deep understanding of the King’s heart to her people.
On the day of their departure, Illyria stood on the Western shore and bid farewell to 700 Knights of the King and 11,000 other Duxarium. She did not know that almost 1900 years later she too would join them in the realm of Lumenorous and be crowned Princess of Captivenia.
In the year 159 of the 2nd Age, ArchLord Valerian abdicated the throne upon his return to Elethia and named Illyria as Princess over all Duxarium in Lumenorus.
LORD CASTIUS
Race: Duxarium
Origins: Lumenorus, born in the year 968 of the 1st Age
Current Age: 930 in the year 161 of the 2nd Age
Skill Mastery: Knowledge of Water and Swordsmanship
Chief Virtue: Fortitude
Commissions & Titles: Guardian of Arcātheos, Protector of Captivenia, and Keeper of the Sword of Silentius
Castius belongs to a family of Duxarium that settled in the northern regions of Lumenorus beyond the borders of Caelor. As a child he was taught how to track the wolves that were terrorizing the northern villages. Before long he had proven himself to be a skilled hunter who would deliver the homesteads of others from such threats. What gained attention from afar was on the day he found himself hunted and eventually surrounded by an overwhelming pack of wolves. Preparing himself for his final stand he said a prayer to the King and knelt down on the frozen tundra. Suddenly, the snow around him melted and turned into steam. Then as if guided, he raised his arms and struck the entire pack with what appeared to be spears of water.
Within days he was visited by the ArchLords Valerian and Legarius. He was brought back to Arcātheos so as to be properly guided in his training. He served for many years as a respected member of ArchLord Valerian’s Royal Guard, and was elevated to the rank of Commander.
In the year 159 of the 2nd Age he was humbled to be declared a Lord, and appointed as the new Guardian of Arcātheos. With this he currently bears the weight of the most strategically important position in the entire Realm of Lumenorus.

Princess Genevé
Race: Duxarium
Origins: Lumenorus, born in the year 849 of the 1st Age
Current Age: 1,049 in the year 161 of the 2nd Age
Gifts: Knowledge of the Healing Arts
Guiding Virtues: Knowledge & Justice
Commissions & Titles: Princess of Caelor, Keeper of the Legends of Lumenorus
Genevé was born in the capital city of Tarek, located in the northeast region of Caelor. Her father was a gifted healer and served as a mentor to ArchLord Valerian in his early years. He was also the appointed commander of the northern army, and was killed while journeying beyond the known lands to the east before she could celebrate her second birthday. Tragedy would be a close companion of the young Genevé who also lost her mother when the stronghold she lived in was overthrown by the Valgrey. Before her death, it was known that Natalia suffered at the hands of the enemy who were anxious to discover the location of some artifacts entrusted to her by her husband. Realizing that Natalia would never surrender to them what they sought, the enemy then began to search for her child, hoping she would have been privy to its potential hiding place.
Without delay, the remaining Duxarium fled with Genevé, who was only four years old. They evaded trackers for days and were relentlessly pursued by the Valgrey until their was only one soldier left to protect her. The pair was finally rescued by ArchLord Legarius, shortly after Tarek was reclaimed by the King's Legion. The soldier, whose name was Hadelin, turned over a mysterious scroll, as well as a carefully wrapped artifact into the care of the ArchLord. It was at this point Genevé was brought to be raised in Meridians, and her identity was concealed.
Over the years, she developed a passion for the realm of Lumenorus and its many tales, both great and small. After coming of age, she left her adopted family and spent years travelling the realm, learning its cultures, delving into its histories. She uncovered many ancient legends that had been. lost in the trials of time and change. She would not discover the truth of her origins until her millennial birthday. In the year 151 of the 2nd age, ArchLord Valerian arrived bearing a gift as well as a message from ArchLord Legarius. After presenting her with the Book of Healing, he revealed to all her true identity. Lady Genevé was in fact the last remaining heir of the Kingdom of Caelor, the only child of Alusdar, brother of the first monarch. She willingly assumed the throne left vacant by the death of her uncle who had no children, and continues to rule with a gentle hand in Tarek to this day.
The Valgrey

COMMANDER NEFARIEL
Race: Duxarium, Inferiun Bloodline
Origins: Elethia, born 6,241 years before the 1st Age
Current Age: 8,135 in the year 157 of the 2nd Age
Skill Mastery: Knowledge of Earth and Air, Master Assassin
Chief Vices: Pride
Nefariel was born on an island located six leagues off the northern coast of Elethia. His family was estranged from the ways of the King, and he grew up in a shadow of mistrust towards those who lived in peace on the main island. From an early age, he was subjected to a brutally intense formation that would eventually lead him to stand as one of the most fearsome assassins ever trained in the old realm.
Wanting to grow in favour with his father, he set out to recruit as many Duxarium to their cause as he could. Spurned on by his earlier successes, he set himself on a target that would have merited him great esteem among all who would one day be known openly as the Valgrey. For it was known to them that Illyria was considered gifted beyond all other females in Elethia. If he were to win her to their side, her powers, which not even she was fully aware of at the time, could have turned the outcome of the war, that would one day ravage the Isle of the Blessed. After being rejected openly by Illyria, who called him out for what he was, he became emboldened in his attempts to punish her for her refusal.
It is believed he must have left the old realm with the main Valgrey fleet, as they pursued the Duxarium across the Sea of Realms. He certainly did well to conceal himself, as there exist no known accounts of him in the history of Lumenorus, that is until the Great Battle of the First Age in 1736. His ferocity in battle was overwhelming, and he played a key role in taking the Tower of Praedor. His skills in the manipulation of matter are so advanced amongst the Inferiun bloodline, that he is able to come in and out of form, as he fights his opponent. He was not seen again until the year 155 of the Second Age, and now appears to have made an alliance with Reth Caedus.

RETH CAEDUS
Race: Duxarium, Inferiun Bloodline
Origins: Lumenorus, born in the year 266 of the 1st Age
Current Age: 1,628 in the year 157 of the 2nd Age
Skill Mastery: Knowledge of Fire and Swordsmanship
Chief Vices: Envy and Arrogance
He was found as a small child wandering alone at the base of Mount Zotheus by ArchLord Valerian. Having no known relatives, he was allowed to be raised in the temple and was given the name Zothaniel. He would rise in stature and eventually stand amongst the greatest of the Duxarium, destined to live forever serving the King after being afforded such a life of grace.
Towards the end of the 1st Age, a trickle of doubt began to seep into his once pure and noble mind. His whole being began to be tested at the outbreak of the Great War. Unlike his close friend Aurelius who was sent to the defense of Praedor, Zothaniel remained at the side of ArchLord Valerian in Arcātheos. Despite the fall of Praedor, Aurelius returned as a decorated hero. He and Aurelius were united in the last defense on the Hill of the King. They had both trained their whole lives for such a moment and they knew it would be an honour to die at the side of ArchLord Valerian.
Of the heroes to emerge from the Great War, Aurelius was given a far greater honour than Zothaniel received. All the deeds of Zothaniel would in time be forgotten and pass into history. His jealousy inevitably turned to hate. Hatred towards Aurelius and his glory, hatred towards Valerian for not seeing his potential, and hatred towards the King whom he felt caused him to suffer so. Like a whisper, the spirit of Reth Maloch spoke to him offering power, glory and the acceptance he craved. After all, when one's heart is full of arrogance there is no room for the words of the King. Zothaniel accepted the offer down this dark path and began the secret trials of his apprenticeship. Unbeknownst to anyone in Arcatheos, and hidden even from the eyes of ArchLord Valerian, he swore allegiance to Reth Maloch, giving his oath of service in return for training in the ancient ways of the ArchLords.
Foes
RETH MALOCH
Race: Duxariumheros and villains maloch
Origins: Elethia, born 7,243 years before the 1st Age
Current Age: 9,140 in the year 160 of the 2nd Age
Skill Mastery: Shock Warfare, Element of Fire, Swordsmanship
Chief Vices: Wrath and Vanity
Originally known as Morinius, he was born in the old realm and his family lived on the northeast side of Elethia near the cliffs of Ungdar. His response to the King’s grace would come later than most when he was nearly 3000 years old. Wanting to answer the call of many of his friends before him, he enlisted in the King’s Legion.
His skill in battle was beyond impressive, and he submitted himself to study the element of fire under Valerian himself. He was eventually promoted to the rank of Captain, at which time he implemented his devastating shock warfare tactics to those under his command. The enemy had become accustomed to the Legion’s strategy in avoiding losses on both sides at all costs. Morinius amassed an incredible victory in one battle by sacrificing his own men to win the day. Once his strategy was realized, he was demoted by Gabron who stopped short of expelling him from the Legion altogether.
He crossed the Sea of Realms with the main fleet and soon found favor again when he was called by the Great King to become one of the seven ArchLords. After receiving his new call, he seemed to many to have finally shed his former ambitions and impulsive nature. For centuries he protected the eastern borders of those loyal to the King, and at times ventured beyond the known lands in hunt of the Valgrey. However, as is well known in history, the virtues he had been portraying were not to last. When asked by the council to intervene in a dispute between Lumenorians, he became enraged by the lack of respect shown to him and the Duxarium. He declared Granak and all his nobles insignificant in comparison with his elevated nature and unleashed a fury no mortal should ever have to behold.
Convicted of murder by the ArchLords, he was excommunicated and fled east before his arrest. He declared himself Reth Maloch, took command of the Valgrey, and would soon wage war upon all of those still loyal to the Great King. After nearly succeeding in taking the passageway between realms in Arcātheos, he was captured in the Great Battle of the 1st Age. Imprisoned for a time in the pit of Silentius by ArchLord Valerian, he would in time be released by his followers and prove himself to be a plague upon the realm of Lumenorus.

The Dark Queen
Race: Duxarium, Inferiun Bloodline
Origins: Elethia, Date of Birth Unknown
Current Age: Unknown
Skill Mastery: Master Assassin, Knowledge of Poisons, extent of abilities unknown
Chief Vices: Envy
Just offshore of the Island of Elethia, the original homeland of the Duxarium, was a place so shrouded in darkness that it was called the Isle of Shades. Here, a female Inferiun of incredible strength gathered to herself a coven of followers and they devoted themselves to the destruction of the allies of the King. Although the Dark Queen was once a Duxarium of Elethia, bitter envy drove her to seek to destroy that which she had once loved.
They were an elite force of Inferiun, trained from birth to be the most ruthless assassins. Their violent nature and destructive wills made them a formidable foe when paired with their innate ability to transform themselves into whomever they desired. Their leader, whom they revered as their Dark Queen, was relentless, vicious, and manipulative. Her thirst for power and the depth of her envy was unmatched by any other. She commanded her forces with an iron fist; failure was punishable by death.
Prior to the great war that ravaged Elethia and took the lives of many innocent Duxarium, the Dark Queen held Illyria as her prisoner for three years. During her captivity, the Dark Queen repeatedly poisoned Illyria using Dark Waters, hoping to weaken her will and force her to renounce her loyalty to the King. She was unsuccessful but has not relinquished her quest, for if she possessed Illyria’s gift, it would make her stronger than even ArchLord Valerian, and all of Lumenorus would fall.

Relicta
Race: Duxarium, Inferiun Bloodline
Origins: Lumenorus, Born some time during the Second Age
Current Age: Unknown
Skill Mastery: Assassinations, Stealth
Chief Vices: Resentment
Relicta, formerly known as Lady Amalaya, served in the Royal Court of the Kingdom of Caelor.
Her lineage was known only to a few, and was kept secret for her own safety. Many feared that one day the Coven of Shadows, Inferiun loyal to the Dark Queen, might seek to reclaim her as their own.
Amalaya’s mother, Julianna, was of Inferiun descent. Born into a family of loyal members of the Coven, Julianna knew nothing of the King, His mercy, or His goodness. However, during a midnight raid on a caravan transporting weapons and supplies for the Legion of Arcätheos, she was apprehended and imprisoned in the tower of Praedor.
There, a young knight by the name of Aldous visited her cell regularly. Showing her mercy, kindness and love, he slowly unfolded for her the mysteries of the great King of Lumenorus. Eventually, her cold heart began to soften and when the prison was attacked by the Coven, in an attempt to free her, she made a choice. Instead of aiding her former friends and escaping, she saved the life of the young knight and refused to leave the prison.
After seeking the counsel of ArchLord Valerian, she was forgiven her crimes and the two were permitted to leave and lived out the rest of their days in hiding in the Kingdom of Caelor. There, Aldous was asked to serve as an advisor to the steward of Caelor. It was not long after the birth of their daughter Amalaya that Julianna fell gravely ill. She soon died and Aldous disappeared without a trace. Some suspect that the Coven may have been responsible for both Julianna’s death and Aldous’s disappearance.
Amalaya grew up in the care of a noble family in Caelor. While she was deeply loved, she felt different than the other Duxarium. She struggled to accomplish many of the most basic tasks performed so easily by her peers, which, despite the love of her guardians, left her feeling discouraged. She doubted her own worth and hard as she tried, she could not do what others could. Amalaya became a recluse and isolated herself from others. However, a Duxarium called Lady Tauria eventually befriended her. Tauria always encouraged Amalaya to discover her own gifts and not to be dismayed by her inability, for no two Duxarium are ever alike.
Her guardians secured a position for her within the court of Caelor when Lady Genevé assumed the throne as princess. It was not long after that the Dark Queen marked her as a target to be reclaimed for the Coven. Slowly but surely she sent emissaries to sow seeds of doubt in her young heart. Amalaya, aching to be good at something, to know that she was valuable and irreplaceable, fell prey to the half-truths of the enemy and began to make her way back into the darkness out of which her mother had come. She is now a loyal follower of the Dark Queen and seeks to aid her in the destruction of Captivenia, believing this to be the opportunity she needs to prove her worth.
