“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yolk upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yolk is easy, and my burden in light.”
{ Matthew 11:28-30 }

In the Kingdom of Captivenia

The chill of winter has finally melted into the damp of springtime, and now Captivenia enjoys the bliss of warmer days. However, as thankful as we are for frequent rain showers, we wouldn’t be opposed to a few more days of scorching heat to dry the roads—it is very arduous pulling a heavy-laden cart over soft earth on one’s way to and from the Market. Particularly for those selling stone and iron goods.

The Princess and the Ambassador have departed for the city of Meridianas Arbor. Rumour has it that they have gone to explore the archives of The Great Library of the Blessed. There was talk in the Market last week that the Messengers stumbled upon intriguing information regarding the self-proclaimed Dark Queen, who escaped from the Tower of Preador last year. Apparently, the news greatly troubled the Princess and she has gone in search of answers. What it is that she is seeking, no one really knows, though many are speculating.

What we do know is that in all things, the King prevails. And this time of uncertainty is no exception.

Prayer of the Week

Healing Prayer of Surrender

Dear Lord Jesus, it is my will to surrender to you everything that I am and everything that I’m striving to be. I open the deepest recesses of my heart and invite your Holy Spirit to dwell inside of me.

I offer you my life, heart, mind, body, soul, spirit, all my hopes, plans and dreams. I surrender to you my past, present and future problems, habits, character defects, attitudes, livelihood, resources, finances, occupation and all my relationships.

I give you my health, physical appearance, disabilities, family, marriage, children and friendships. I ask you to take Lordship over every aspect of my life. I surrender to you all my hurt, pain, worry, doubt, fear and anxiety, and I ask you to wash me clean.

I release everything into your compassionate care. Please speak to me clearly, Lord. Open my ears to hear your voice. Open my heart to commune with you more deeply. I want to feel your loving embrace. Open the doors that need to be opened and close the doors that need to be closed. Please set my feet upon the straight and narrow road that leads to everlasting life. Amen.

You Will Find Rest

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28

Part of what can make our daily burdens so heavy is the fact that we are usually trying to carry them by ourselves.

Sometimes we carry our burdens silently out of fear of being an inconvenience to those around us, sometimes we are afraid to allow others to see our inability. And sometimes, when our burdens feel like too much to bear, it is because we expect more of ourselves than we actually should. Sometimes our burdens feel overwhelming because they are not the burdens God wanted us to carry.

Of course, God intends to make each and every one of us a saint, but He will do so at His own pace and in His own time. We should be careful to only take on those burdens that we are called to carry and not be ensnared by the temptation to compare ourselves to others. We are each of us unique and we can either rail against the person we were created to be, or we can learn to care for and love ourselves as God does. What someone else is able to carry, may not be possible for you. And that’s okay! Because you were not created to be them. Keep your eyes fixed upon the King and you will find rest.
